Frequently asked questions

  • What are your prices?

    Please visit my prices page

  • Do you have a done?

Yes it’s great for establishing shots of your venue and makes for fun group shots. Assuming it’s legal and safe to fly I will be using it (no extra cost for this).

  • Why do you use a second shooter?

Having a second shooter has two main benefits it allows us to be in two places at once, to get more angles and ultimately more photographs. It also provides an extra layer of redundancy should anything happen. It's to help get as many amazing shots as possible.

  • Are you insured?

Yes, I have public liability insurance. Proof of this can provided (for example venues sometimes require this) once you have booked me.

  • Do you have a backup strategy?

Yes. This is very important. Redundancy is the key I will bring at least two cameras, my second shooters will bring two cameras too. All cameras will have duel memory card slots and be set to backup everything onto both slots.

At the end of the day one set of cards will be on my person and another will be stored separately. Once I get home that evening (sometimes before I leave) I will transfer all the shots to a computer where they will be backed up automatically onto two NAS servers one at my home and another 100 miles away at my parents house. Also The memory cards used on the day won't be wiped until you've been given your photos.

Your footage is safe! I have an IT background and follow a 3-2-1 backup strategy. We’ve all heard the horror stories of disorganised so called “professionals” losing irreplaceable files. I do everything I can to prevent this.

  • What Gear do you use?

Firstly I think my real value is in my people skills. However equipment is important I currently shoot Sony. I have several full frame cameras (currently A7IV) and I mostly shoot with with grand master lens which are the best lenses Sony make. It's heavy but it's worth it. I always use two cameras in case something goes wrong. This also saves me time switching lenses.

I also have a DJI mini 3 pro which I think is the best drone ever made. It’s less than 250g so I can fly it in a lot more places than my older bigger drones.

  • Do you use flash?

Yes, given the choice I will use on and off camera lighting where appropriate but not constantly. If you or your venue would prefer I didn’t that’s fine I have fast enough lenses that I don't need it.

Typically I’ll use flash to counter harsh sunlight, to freeze fast moving action and I normally use my flash for dancefloor shots.
